Model Transformation Co-evolution: A Semi-automatic Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Model transformations are precious and e ortful outcomes of Model-Driven Engineering. As any other artifact, transformations are also subject to evolution forces. Not only are they a ected by changes to transformation requirements, but also by the changes to the associated metamodels. Manual co-evolution of transformations after these metamodel changes is cumbersome and error-prone. In this setting, this paper introduces a semi-automatic process for the co-evolution of transformations after metamodel evolution. The process is divided in two main stages: at the detection stage, the changes to the metamodel are detected and classi ed, while the required actions for each type of change are performed at the co-evolution stage. The contributions of this paper include the automatic co-evolution of breaking and resolvable changes and the assistance to the transformation developer to aid in the coevolution of breaking and unresolvable changes. The presented process is implemented for ATL in the CO-URE prototype.

A Hybrid Meta-heuristic Approach to Cope with State Space Explosion in Model Checking Technique for Deadlock Freeness
Model checking is an automatic technique for software verification through which all reachable states are generated from an initial state to finding errors and desirable patterns. In the model checking approach, the behavior and structure of system should be modeled. Graph transformation system is a graphical formal modeling language to specify and model the system. However, modeling of large s...
متن کاملDeveloping Reliable yet Flexible Software through If-Then Model Transformation Rules
Developing reliable yet flexible software is a hard problem. Although modeling methods enjoy a lot of advantages, the exclusive use of just one of them, in many cases, may not guarantee the development of reliable and flexible software. Formal modeling methods ensure reliability because they use a rigorous approach to software development. However, lack of knowledge and high cost practically fo...
متن کاملArchitecture Migration Driven by Code Categorization
In this paper, we report on the development of a methodology for the evolution of software towards new architectures. In our approach, we represent source code as graphs. This enables the use of graph transformation rules, allowing the automation of the transformation process. Prior to its model representation, the source code is subject to a preparatory step of semi-automatic code annotation a...
متن کاملUsing Type Transformation in Database System Implementation
We propose the use of semi-automatic methods for the translation of abstract database programs into eecient lower level user-deened primitives. We present a type transformation model for use in deening and facilitating the query translation and optimization process. We discuss how this model can be used also as a framework for schema evolution and data restructuring.
متن کاملCo-Transformation of Type and Instance Graphs Supporting Merging of Types and Retyping
Algebraic graph transformation is a well-known rule-based approach to manipulate graphs that can be applied in several contexts. In this paper we use it in the context of model-driven engineering. Graph transformation rules usually specify changes to only one graph per application, however there are use cases such as model co-evolution where not only a single graph should be manipulated but als...
